Beginnings
Started in January 2002, Aversion America established itself as a clothing brand programmed to provide high-quality American-made apparel.
The company's beginnings were with two college entrepreneurs who had a few ideas about selling clothes. Neither had any experience doing so, but both had the drive to make it happen.
Aversion America's founders, Dave Weniger and Jon Thomas shaped the company to provide what they saw was lacking in the clothing industry; a company with its feet on the ground, providing high-quality clothing with bold and straightforward message. In addition to humble beginnings, Aversion America remains a humble company, keeping in mind the true meaning of success.
Although we can’t inject morals into our clothing we strive to reflect our message and sentiments in their design.

Meaning of Aversion
If you look up Aversion in the dictionary, you might be confused with what exactly Aversion America means. That's by far the most common question we've had when telling people about the brand. What does it mean, you ask?

Well, when we were trying to find the perfect name for our company, we wanted to incorporate a sense of independence, identity, and empowerment that encompasses the attitudes of our generation. We came across the word "Aversion," meaning "to turn away from something," or "to have a distaste towards something." We felt that this powerful word said a lot- a bold ideology that, if adopted rationally, could catalyst a change in our lives and ultimately a change in our world.

Aversion, though stating what we were looking for in our brand name, still seemed lacking. We wanted the wearers of our clothing to be able to identify with the brand even further. So we decided to add "America" to the end of the name. In that, we are identifying ourselves as free; able to change the things that need changing in ourselves and our environment. Aversion America isn't a call to revolt against America. We don't want you to dislike America. We happen to love America, and even use American-made materials in the clothes we produce. We do, however, acknowledge that within our freedoms lie problems, and everyone has the power to fix problems. That is what Aversion is all about. Examination, ideas, and change.

You don't have to be American to wear Aversion, or even to identify with the underlying message of the brand. Anyone who believes in something and feels that things in the world should be different believes in the message of Aversion.

Aversion is still just a clothing company. But it's a clothing company that stands for something. If you feel the same way we do, we challenge you to find your aversion, and change it.
